Vocabulary Enhancement
Articulate a reinforced response and delve into a better understanding by utilizing a broader vocabulary. (I feel like I used some pretty good words here, right?)
You will need:
- a journal (any type will suffice)
- a pen.
Pay attention to your everyday conversation and your commonly used words.
Consider them for a moment and use a Thesaurus to locate matching words with a similar or same meaning (synonym).
- Write them down in your journal along with their definitions and in future conversations, attempt to implement them by swapping them out with your common words.
Try this exercise:
Pick 3-5 words a week from the dictionary, write them in your journal ā along side their corresponding definition and study them.
Now start to use them in a conversation to actively remember. You can also make up some flash cards (online, written or printed) in your memorization quest.
This was something I thought about for homeschool vocabulary progression. It benefits children and adults so have fun with it. Don't take life too serious, but be earnest when it counts. Insh'Allah.
